I have seen many posts online earnestly romanticizing living in the medieval era. If you think I’m kidding, take one scroll through traditional bro Twitter, and you’ll be unpleasantly surprised. These trad accounts bemoan modern existence, claiming that we don’t fight for anything important. If we were born in the medieval era, we would get to be knights in shining armor, fighting for honor, glory, and beautiful maidens stashed away in a tower! If this sounds like an incredibly childish perspective that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what medieval life was like, you would be correct. I’m not even one of those people who tout the myth that medieval life was utterly miserable in every way. Even still, it’s so silly to believe in earnest that you, the most special boy in the world, would be important enough in medieval society to be a valiant knight.
