If you ask a kid who their favorite superhero is, at least 9/10 of them will say Batman, Spider-Man, or Superman. At least that was the case when I was a kid before the MCU blew up and made people care about superheroes they previously did not give a whit about. Even though I appreciate the MCU for elevating Iron Man to a status previously unseen, I like the classics. I like brooding Bruce Wayne and witty Peter Parker and himbo Clark Kent. They fit into such classic superhero tropes; guy with no powers, guy with godlike powers, and scrappy underdog who is given powers. Even if it is kind of basic, I will rewatch a Batman movie I’ve already seen over and over again instead of resigning my time to one of these Deadpool wannabees. If you love classic superheroes (and a few not-so-classics), you’ll love these superhero memes.
