Whenever I’m eating at a Mexican restaurant, I think «I wish they had a funny and relatable sign outside of the restaurant to inspire me while I eat these tacos and guacamole.» And it’s because I’m not at El Arroyo in Austin, Texas. Boy, have they nailed that formula. Almost daily, they hoist up a new banger of a sign for all of us to enjoy. But the wonderful thing about the internet is that we can experience the joy of El Arroyo signs anywhere in the world. BYO chips and guacamole. 

There’s something about their old-school lettering that matches perfectly with their twangy southern charm that comes together to create the perfect, satisfying, consumable image. I hear all their signs in a Texas Aunt voice, with plenty of bitterness and sass but with a soothing quality that lets you know everything’s going to be okay.
