Introverts are always plotting. Not maliciously or anything, but introverted people are always secretly plotting an exit strategy for a conversation. Traumatized by one too many grocery store encounters with an old high school acquaintance, introverted people are simply planning for the inevitable, protecting their future selves from useless small talk. 

Just because we coincidentally went to the same high school 15 years ago, doesn’t mean that we’re besties now. 

But as the wheel of time turns, the encounters with strangers become longer and more drawn out, so an antisocial person or someone with a limited supply of social battery has to plan accordingly. And for a clever introvert, that means having a few unbeatable excuses in your back pocket—An ace up your sleeve, if you will.
