School’s out for summer. School’s out forever. School is out so now the kids are running wild, untethered with so much energy and it’s harder than ever to put them to bed. Where’s the song about that? 

It’s the time of year when the children roam the streets, looking for trouble and finding ice cream. I think parents would benefit from a summer vacation, too, but a parent’s job never truly ends. It increases when they’re not in school. Usually (thankfully) teachers are there to act as a buffer. They watch after them during the day, make sure they’re fed and occupied. Now that’s up to parents. And you bet your bottom dollar they don’t get paid for it. But just fill up a tiny inflatable pool with hose water and you’ll buy yourself some time to get to that beach novel. Or look at this list of parenting tweets. Just as good.
