Plant people are a different breed. While some of us (definitely not me) can barely take care of themselves, plant lovers seem to thrive on taking care of their green friends – sometimes at the expense of their own sanity. The trials of green thumbs are many. Buying too many plants seems to be a common theme for enthusiasts. Then there’s the agoraphobia and social anxiety, which we kind of understand. If your home is full of plants, chances are it’s more relaxing than the outside world. And plants don’t force you to make small talk or be a wing woman. Despite these minor downsides, playing botanist seems more gratifying than most hobbies. And thanks to the internet, there are plenty of memes to remind even the most amateur gardener that they’re not alone in their idiosyncrasies.
