30-year-old employee gets paid $27K a month to sit around and do nothing for 7 hours a day, asks how to deal with the boredom: ‘A good paycheck doesn’t cancel out mental burnout’

Where are all these jobs where you sit at a desk all day and do nothing? I’ve known so many people who have full-time jobs where they barely do anything, and are able to get away with it for years at a time. It’s normal for a company to have busy seasons where employees have to cram two days’ worth of work into one, and less busy seasons where employees can finish their work by noon without any negative impact on the bottom line. But if every season is the slow season, that means one of two things: you’re working for an incompetent organization that cannot properly manage its employees, or you’re about to get fired. If you’re working for the former, there’s a chance you could be sitting behind a desk for 40 hours a week without a task in sight for years. It’s not as much of a dream as you might think.
