Is it weird to order Mountain Dew on a date as an adult?

You’re allowed to consume whatever you’d like to consume. You’re an adult, and if you want to eat popcorn for dinner, you’re allowed to do that. Who hasn’t done that once, just to test the boundaries of your own adulthood? Maybe you realize that it makes you feel bad and that you should probably limit that behavior, but you find that out on your own. Sure, you could eat ice cream at 9 am, but you learn quickly that it doesn’t quite set you up for success. Ordering a Mountain Dew, however, at a restaurant that serves it, is not a bad thing. And nobody should make you feel like it is. It might be an unconventional choice, sure, but it’s not wrong. People order Cokes at restaurants all the time and nobody bats an eye. Something about Mountain Dew had been wrongly maligned, and we need to interrogate why. It might be because it’s associated with gamers, and a certain kind of sedentary lifestyle. But that’s unfair. It is simply a soda, like any other soda, and should be treated as such. The woman in this story didn’t think so, though, and wanted to make her date feel bad about it. Even after weeks went by, she just couldn’t let it go, and kept making him feel bad about it. This is no way to live, and it deserves to be called out.
