34-year-old friend begs to move in rent free with friend who just bought her first home: ‘I got so outraged I called her a terrible friend’

Should you let your friend move in with you just because they asked to?

That’s a pretty big ask, and you’re probably not going to take it lightly. Your home is your home, and you don’t want people coming in and disrupting your peace. Especially if it’s your first place all by yourself for the first time in a while, then you might hold onto it with all that you have. You want to be able to use it the way you want to use it and not worry about someone else taking up space, especially if they’re not going to contribute financially to the household. That’s a big ask, and though you probably want to help out your friends in their time of need, there is a limit to your generosity, naturally. You have to set boundaries with people, or else they will walk all over you with no consequence. That’s what the woman in this story tried to do.
