Can you believe it’s been a month since Christmas? I feel like just yesterday I was wrapping presents mere minutes before I put them under the tree and praying to the Amazon gods that my mom’s squishmallow would arrive before the big day. 

Ever since, I’ve been «muddling through somehow,» like the great Judy Garland said in the iconic Christmas song «Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.» Did y’all know that those aren’t the original lyrics to that song? The original lyrics read, «Have yourself a merry little Christmas, It may be your last. Next year we may all be living in the past.» That was far too depressing. In the movie Meet Me In St. Louis, Garland sings «Someday soon we all will be together, if the fates allow. Until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow.» But the version most of us know is Frank Sinatra’s where he proclaims, «Hang a shining star upon the highest bough,» which takes all of the derpessing edge out of it.
