Perhaps it is not a good thing that so many of us have grown used to having things totally on demand, whether that be movies, takeout, or ridiculous social media drama. It is no secret that most of us have fried our patience and attention spans with screens and all of the convenience that they provide, leaving us unable to wait for pretty much anything.

There are some positives to this impatience, though, such as the fact that it makes memes be churned out at such a rapid-fire pace that there always seem to be new ones for us to enjoy. Maybe we can’t go to the cinema without looking at our phones multiple times, but we sure can have fun ingesting these stupid pictures that take about half a second each to consume. What’s more is that we can do it anytime and anywhere. That has got to be true freedom.
