We’d all like to be recognized for our talents. Maybe we have a specific skill to offer the world, and we want to share it. We think we’re good at something, and we hope that others see that we’re good at something. Maybe we don’t want to be famous, or maybe we don’t care about amassing mountains of cash. But what we do probably want is a sense that our work is appreciated. Maybe you get that directly from the people that you work for, or maybe it comes from within. But if you’re a dedicated tweeter, it comes in the form of likes and retweets. 

This is how we tweeters know that we did something right. We sit back and watch the numbers roll in, growing more and more powerful with each one. Is this a healthy system of validation? Not really. But nothing about the internet is really that healthy.
