Beauty is all around if you know how to look for it. Science fiction can be good at making us understand that. You might not immediately think that watching an alien parasite crawl out of someone’s stomach would be beautiful, but it indeed is. It makes you appreciate craft and practical effects in a wonderful way. It can teach you to look at something in a new light. It may not look like anything we’ve seen in our own world, but it indeed does come from our world. Imagine that. There’s deep poetry in that, at least to me. 

That’s why we keep returning to our favorite sci-fi movies and shows year after year, day after day. They not only provide us with action, adventure, and sometimes laughter, but they remind us to keep looking out for the beautiful things in our world. They’re easier to find than we might think.
