Birthdays are sacred, even if they’re around other holidays. You know this if you have the misfortune of sharing a birthday with a holiday. It unfortunately happens to a lot of us, and you have to find ways to make it special. If your birthday is in December, this can be difficult. Everyone is already geared up for the holidays, and they don’t have a ton of bandwidth to celebrate you and you alone. Or worse, they will just try to lump you in with the holiday. You won’t get two gifts, you’ll get one. It’s completely unfair. 

But the least you can hope for is that your family, the ones closest to you, have you in mind enough to make things special. You rightfully expect that those closest to you will realize that you are easily overlooked and try to rectify that. But that’s not exactly what happened in this story, where someone in a big family got lost in the shuffle once again. When multiple birthdays were happening at once, they weren’t sure whose side to take.
