This week, a major bombshell dropped in the millennial community. Voice of a generation writer Lena Dunham announced that she has broken up with New York, the city that raised the star and creator of the seminal hit show Girls. She has left the Big Apple for London, which she feels suits her better. Some claimed that this New Yorker article was just one of many recession indicators that have been popping up lately. Others might see it as an end to the millennial fantasy of New York that Girls depicts. If you ask me, I mostly see it as a woman nearing her 40s finally admitting that it’s okay not to feel comfortable and happy in your hometown. That might be a big blow to Girls fans who buy into the same ideals about New York that Hannah Horvath did, but at the end of the day, Hannah is not Lena.
