Tweets are important this time of year, arguably even more than others. Picture this: you’re home for the holidays. Thanksgiving, even. Maybe it’s even Thanksgiving today. You’re surrounded by people you love, but you may not be surrounded by people you understand, or understand you. Maybe you don’t have a ton in common. It can be exhausting to constantly try to explain yourself to those around you. It’s like you don’t speak the same language. You’re a ship at sea in a culture all your own. This is when you turn to the internet. On the internet, people like you are around every corner. They pick up what you’re putting down, without even trying. They know your perspective and will mirror it back to you. They make you laugh in a way that those around you can’t. Not that it’s better, it’s just different. Closer to home. Or more removed from it… However you see it.
This is why we come together for the fresh tweets every week. They make us thankful. Thankful that there is still a corner of the internet where we feel heard and understood.
