Every household has its rules. Some make sense, some make absolutely no sense, but as children, we all had to follow them. Now, as an adult, I slowly see how my parents’ rules have affected how I maintain my own household, and I now fully expect my future children to follow the rules I collect along the way.

Those rules can be extremely helpful, like creating a chores dividing system and sticking to it, but they can also be silly and unhinged, like having to kiss the cat on the head before you leave the house for the day. And to be completely honest with you, these two rules are equally important to me. 

Reading through the comments to this AskReddit – ‘What’s an unwritten rule in your household?’, I realized how different each and every one of us grew up, and how unique every household is. With so many helpful and ridiculous rules, I truly believe I might implement some of these crazy comments with my future family.
