In a lot of sci-fi films (and a lot of films in general) exists the concept of a «Chosen One.» They’re the protagonist- the character through which the story is laid out. They are called to action, faced with a choice, and then have to overcome a series of obstacles in order to complete their journey. Your Anakin Skywalkers, your Aangs, your Frodo Baggins. They have been chosen by some hand of fate to be the defeater of some evil force. 

I wonder if this trope ever makes it off the screen into real life. Maybe you’ve felt like the «Chosen One» at some point in your life. Maybe you faced a harrowing journey to open your small business and now you get to reap the spoils of it. Maybe you fight injustice in your job and feel uniquely suited to do so. Maybe you felt called to adopt that certain dog and save him from the pound.
