Mom of an incoming University of Arkansas freshman asks fellow parents how to help her daughter remember her key to her dorm: ‘Remembering to take a key everywhere she goes is going to be a lot.’

When my sister and I were in college, my mom participated in her fair share of «Parents of the Class of 20XX» Facebook groups. While I went to a regular, degular state school, my kid sister’s school was much more full of rich kids and their parents who thought they could throw money at all of their kids’ problems, and they would magically go away. One time, a mom asked if someone would be willing to pick up her sick kids’ prescription from the pharmacy, and one of the other moms actually volunteered her kid to do it. Another time, a parent asked about services where you could pay someone to clean your kid’s dorm room. These kids have no sense of responsibility for themselves or any friends they can ask for minor favors. It’s a wonder they were able to function in college at all without their mommy’s help.
