Communication is key, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Sometimes we find ourselves hiding things from the ones that we love, even if we don’t really mean to. They just might be too difficult to bring up, and we don’t quite have a way around it. This can happen in even the strongest relationships. Maybe there’s something that you feel ashamed about that you fear that you’ll be judged for bringing up. Maybe you’re trying to feel some sense of independence by keeping something to yourself. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this, but trouble is bound to come up when communication falls apart. Especially if you’re raising a child together. 

Raising a kid itself is hard enough, but if you have turmoil within the relationship, then it makes everything harder. One family learned that the hard way when something as simple as a Christmas gift brought up a lot of feelings. With the baby on the way, one mom felt overwhelmed and wanted to do things her own way. She thought that giving an early gift to her daughter would make her happy and smooth everything over.
