Finally, the crossover we didn’t want or think we needed is here!
More often than not, people who are fans of superhero comic books are also big fans of Sci-Fi franchises, fantasy, and truly anything that shows some real imagination and creativity was put into the story. The weirder the characters and the adventures they go through, the better. And the fan communities that are formed around these incredible stories are truly ones that cannot be compared. The people who love and cherish the material would forever go the distance to prove their devotion. It’s a wonder to observe, and even better to be a part of.
However, just because fantasy, sci-fi, and comic book nerds are usually all one and the same does not mean they want to see their favorite franchises all merge into one. If someone fell in love with each genre separately, why would they suddenly want them to cross over?
That is why people are not excited about the new announcement that a Marvel and Star Wars crossover is heading our way. I love Marvel, and I love Star Wars, but never once was I ever excited about the idea of putting them together. Each universe has its unique qualities, fascinating characters, and incredible adventures. Mixing them together sounds like a headache I did not sign up for, and have no interest in consuming it as a fan.
I am one fan among many, and the mixed reactions I found online to this announcement made me feel validated, chuckle, and even roll my eyes. Fans on Twitter are not afraid to express their opinions about yet another decision that makes them feel like the entertainment business is running out of ideas, but hey, at least the memes that we get from these opinions are downright hilarious.
