One of the benefits of Reddit’s existence is that it is perhaps one of the less intimidating social media platforms to post on (provided you choose the right place to be, that is). It is quite easy to remain anonymous, and there is no pressure to present oneself in a polished, influencer-esque fashion in order to get attention. A lot of the time, it takes a minimal amount of effort to find a readymade community for almost any of the interests that your heart desires, and it is also a place that is more than happy to give advice to those who need it. Whether they want to take it on board is another matter. 

At the same time, being a Redditor still means that somebody has a public presence on the mainstream internet, and they get scrutinized accordingly. It is not uncommon for relationships to end or a family argument to blow up because a wild Reddit account was stumbled upon, and it raised some serious questions. What is even more popular is enjoying the wild range of screenshots that the front page of the internet can generate, showing the best and worst of online culture.
