‘My 8yo: I need nails to build…something’: 30+ of the funniest parenting tweets of the week

«You mean we’ve gotta clean again?»

Kids are always saying the darndest things. So much so that they made a whole television show about it. If you’ve ever been around a naturally funny kid, you know that. Some kids just have a talent for letting the silliest things fall out of their mouths. It’s partly that they don’t have a filter yet, and partly that they’re observing everything for the first time. That’s a perfect combination for comedy. The best stand-up comedians can observe Earth like they’re an alien visiting it, and they have the confidence to say things that others wouldn’t say out loud. Children naturally have both of these qualities. Remember how new everything felt once upon a time? Kids feel that all the time. They can’t help but have a fresh perspective on life because they haven’t been around enough to know any different.

Parents can also be naturally funny. If you’re in tune with the absurdities of the job, then you can make a room of people laugh. There is something inherently funny about letting a 3-year-old boss you around. But if you’ve ever been around a bossy 3-year-old, you know you often have no choice in the matter. That’s why parents need each other. They need to be able to get together to laugh about what’s going on in their lives and their kids’ lives around people who will get it and who will relate. This is where the parenting tweets naturally come in.
