Most caring parents hope to be able to leave their kids something after they are gone. Whether they can offer money, property, family heirlooms, or all of the above, it is only natural for those who have children to give them whatever they can that may possibly give them a leg up in life.

Of course, not everyone is in a position for this to be possible. On top of that, even the most ironclad last will and testament can wind up causing family disagreements, and people not getting the inheritance that they previously expected. The grief is difficult enough to deal with, but the estate is sometimes worse. 

Things can get particularly tricky when kids or family members who are underage are due to receive an inheritance. Older relatives who think they know what’s best (or want to act like they do for their own benefit) can have a tendency to mismanage money that is not rightfully theirs. At worst, it can turn into a messy legal battle or the kind of family rift that lasts for a lifetime. Sadly, when some people find an opportunity to get their hands on money or something valuable, they couldn’t care less what the fallout may be.
