Have you ever lived in a place where you have to share spaces with your neighbours?
Sharing a patio with your neighbours can be a lot of fun, and a lot of trouble at the same time, depending on the neighbours. We all use the same space, and some weird interactions might happen. Like, seeing your neighbour without a shirt on during summer. Besides, if any of you have any pets, especially cats, it’s really usual to see them around and hear their owners calling them. You might suddenly hear a very loud «Cream puff, where did you go, girl?» and immediately answer with «She’s here, eating tuna with Cheeto!!»
Reddit user u/Lilith245245 kind of messed up a little while calling her cat named Baby. The cat was out on the patio, but so was her landlord, who’s also her next-door neighbour. She could only see the cat, not the landlord, and started calling her «baby,» «cute,» and saying a lot of «I love yous.» The landlord sat up from where he was sunbathing and couldn’t see the cat. That’s when the girl realised she sounded like flirting with him. Aaakwaard.
I’ve never flirted with anyone by accident, so I can’t speak for that. What I can tell you is that sometimes by accident I talk to people like I talk to my cat. The other day I was on the phone with my boyfriend, and while trying to say something nice to him, I ended up using that same baby voice I use when talking to the cat. I cringed so hard at myself, and he just laughed at me.
The important thing is that we hardly ever talk to humans like we talk to our pets. So, if this girl was using her version of baby voice to call her kitten, chances are that the landlord figured it out by himself. And if he didn’t, at least you got your answer, girl. He just stood up and left! I’m sorry, I’m trying really hard not to make fun of her, but it’s so hard!! I would have been mortified as well LOL. At least now you have a funny story to tell your girlfriends over coffee.
