If you’re a parent right now, then you are probably in need of some tweets.
Summer is not an easy time to be a parent. It’s one of the hardest times of year to do it, actually. It’s so hot outside, the kids are out of school, and they need entertaining. It’s a great time to bring your child to work, if you’re allowed to do that. When I was a kid, there was nothing I loved more than scampering around my dad’s office. He would set me free with all the office supplies and snacks my little heart could desire. I’d spend all day playing with highlighters and sticky notes and drinking LaCroix from the office fridge. It was a great time to be alive. Not an ounce of responsibility, all of the perks of office-hood. If you can give that to your child, then you absolutely should.
Summer is full of opportunities for boredom. This can be a wonderful thing as a child. You’re set free to roam for hours and hours without anything to do. Unfortunately, we’ve gotten too good at not being bored. We’re used to filling the space with distractions until we’re completely run dry. But summer is all about letting yourself be bored with no consequences. You let your mind roam until it stumbles upon something interesting. This is what kids should be doing. But as a parent, you might need some distractions from all of that. This is where the tweets come in.
