Out of pure boredom, dude decides to fake a foreign accent at the new local cafe, has kept it up for 3 years now, sparks hilarity: ‘I don’t even have an old country, I’m from Ohio…’

At what point is committing to the bit too far?

I’m all about committing to the bit. If you’re going to do something funny, then do it with your whole chest. Comedy gold doesn’t just spark out of nowhere. It comes from the heart of a funny someone. I fully support anything for the bit.

Recently, Redditor u/Speedzone1221 shared that he has taken his bit too far. I, personally, think he could go further, but I digress. This guy was bored one day and went to try out the newest cafe in his town. While he was there, in his dramatically big scarf, he decided to put on a fake foreign accent to spice up his cafe experience. Grabbing some coffee and a little treat can be a mundane thing, but not if you throw in something like a weird accent. Now, you’re not you doing what you usually do. You’re Gustav from the Netherlands here to continue his dream as a scone connoisseur. Or whoever you want to choose.

He figured he probably would never go back, so why not? However, as fate would have it, those pastries were really good, like really good. He said they are the best pastries in a 50-mile radius of his home! So he simply had to go back. Of course, the owner never forgets the dramatic foreign guy who came by when they first opened. Now it has been three years, and he is still keeping up with the accent. How do you even get out of a bit like that?

In my opinion, he should keep it up. In fact, get some of his friends in on it too and bring his entire «foreign» family to the cafe. Why not? It would appear that most of the internet agrees with me too. It’s all for the bit, bestie!
