Sometimes simplicity is what gets the job done. 

Government agencies in the US and indeed around the world are not exactly known for being paragons of efficiency. Most of the time, we simply have to put up with their quirks because they are kind of in charge of us being part of society as we know it. Like millions of other people, we just have to deal with them grudgingly.

Generally speaking, these institutions are the kind that we love to hate, even if we do see the point in them existing. It is basically a rite of passage of adult life to have a bad experience with one or several of them at some point. You don’t have to be Elon Musk-level crazy to think that there are maybe certain ways in which they could be improved.

For this reason, it is actually kind of interesting to get a peek behind the scenes at how these organizations function, or at least pretend to. If you have ever been on the receiving end of frustrating service, it can be kind of comforting to feel like you have more of an understanding of how it happened. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to be better next time, though.
