Do you also have Obi-Wan as your comfort character? 

Along with Anakin, Obi-Wan is one of the most beloved characters of the saga, and my personal favorite. His storyline is one of the most complex of all, but funnily enough, it is one of the most overlooked. 

Anakin gets praised, and many try to justify his actions; we admitted in the past that he was right about quite a few things. But do you know who was also right about many things? Obi-Wan. He had a life as hard and complicated as Anakin’s, and yet, he never betrayed his ideals. 

He lost his master and only father figure. Remember, children who were sensitive to the Force were taken from their parents at a very early age, so Qui-Gon was the closest thing he had to a father. He also lost the love of his life, Satine. If you’ve seen at least the most important episodes of Clone Wars, you might remember they started on the wrong foot, but fell in love in the end. A wonderful enemies-to-lovers storyline, one that ended tragically. His padawan and best friend, the one he trusted the most, turned on him and everything they had worked for together. The order that had raised him and almost all the people he loved were gone. And yes, we’re using the L word because he loved them all. He even says it to Anakin in Mustafar. 

Obi-Wan had the same conflicts as Anakin: the loss of a parent, of a love, of a friend. But he also had a more balanced viewpoint than Anakin’s, and his beliefs were better rooted. He was able to do what Anakin couldn’t: walk on the edges between his feelings and the Jedi training. He could take what was better from his inner self and the non-Jedi world, and combine it with his training and belief system. He saw the flaws as well, but instead of discarding them completely, he took the best of both worlds and integrated them in a complementary way.
