Are we ready for a new era of pop girlies?
This is happening, and we’re so ready for it. In the last few years, and even months, we’ve seen a surge of new artists coming up and making a statement. Even if they’re not that new and have been around for a few years, it seems like just now every name is starting to resonate everywhere, along with their songs. Katseye is on their first world tour; Adela just released her first album, and now Addison Rae is working on her second.
It’s wonderful to see that, after all, pop music is still thriving out there, and there are many artists out there keeping it alive and preparing to be the next generation of world record breakers. Don’t worry! Taylor, Ariana, Olivia, and Sabrina still have a lot to give to us and wouldn’t dream of retiring when they are at the peak of their careers, but it’s still lovely to see how they are inspiring so many other young women to find their voices and become artists. Our daughters one day are going to need their own set of pop girlies to identify with and whose music they will blast in their bedroom and choose for a karaoke night.
The only thing that might be worrisome is the fans trying to pit one against the other. One recurring thing on Twitter was people comparing Addison to Adela, nd this sparks the question: why are we still pitting women against each other? There’s room for all of them in the industry, and each of them can bring something unique and fresh to the table. We are so glad that pop girlies are still out there! Since Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears took over the music industry back in their day, women in pop have not stopped growing and making every young girl out there feel seen and represented. Let’s give them all the room they need to grow and be the successful queens they can be! That way, we’ll never run out of great albums.
