Entitled parents snap at a hotel employee for stopping their kids from using dangerous fountains as a slide, so he shuts down the pool and kicks them out: ‘That felt very good’

When did ‘We’re guests here’ become an excuse for letting your kids run wild?

Working at a hotel during the summer can totally be a challenge. There are too many people and kids running around, so having a thousand eyes is key to making sure that everything is going well. One employee was doing his job and noticed a couple of kids playing on a big water fountain in the middle of the garden.

This is not only against the rules, but it can be extremely dangerous. If one of the kids got injured because he was playing there, I’m pretty sure that the employee would be blamed. He asked them from a window to stop doing that, but the kids didn’t stop. So he went up to them and very politely told them that they shouldn’t be doing that, but that they were not in trouble.

That caused NOTHING, because the kids stuck their tongues out and called him names. They were very disrespectful, and after that they ran away to the pool section, where their parents were. The employee followed them and had a word with the parents and told them that what they did was very dangerous and that they were lucky that none of them got injured.

The parents, who clearly didn’t want to attend any babysitting duties during that time, were even more disrespectful and gave him a terrible attitude. They told him he shouldn’t be telling their kids what to do and to mind his own business. Also, they demanded respect and more polite behavior since they were guest. What? The employee was actually very clear and not mean at all.

Since he knew that these parents were not going to change their minds and that there was nothing else that he could do, he decided to play his last card. He looked at the time and realized that the pool had to be closed: it was five minutes past its closing time.  He not only closed it, but kicked that whole family out. Needless to say, that must have felt very good.
