Are you the type to party all out, or do you prefer a quieter celebration? For me, it depends on my mood, the moment of the week, and the time of day, but some people are definitely one or the other.
I can’t believe we’re already halfway across October; days are flying by faster than I expected, which is partly good because we’re getting closer to the end of the year and the Holiday season, but it’s also stressful because I have no costume yet! Yeah, that’s right. Half of October and I still have no idea what I’m going to wear. My boyfriend gave me some ideas for couples’ costumes, but we still can’t decide. And because we like to stress ourselves out for no reason, we probably won’t choose one until October 29th, and then we’ll have to run around the entire city trying to find what we need for the costume. He suggested we go as Morticia and Gomez Addams, and so far, that’s the option I’m most inclined to go with. A suit, a long black dress, and a good set of makeup and accessories, and we’re done! Besides, the dress and the suit can be worn again, and then we won’t have a random piece of costume taking up space in our closets.
As much as I love the idea of dressing up and decorating my entire house to look like a Haunted Mansion, this year I’ve decided not to host a party. For real, I’m entering my ‘lazy era,’ and I have no energy to put in the amount of work a celebration like this takes. The last time I was involved in the organization of a party, I finished up exhausted, and I’m entering a stage of my life where I prefer to stay relaxed. Because for me, doing something simple is not an option. I’m more like: ‘go big or go home’, and this year I prefer to go home. Or to some of my friends’ parties, whatever happens first.
The possibility of staying home, full on costume, watching movies and eating a hundred different snacks has also crossed my mind, and I’m telling you, it’s an idea that seems more likely to become reality by the minute. I’m making a list of horror movies to watch, just in case.
The important thing is that you celebrate however you like it and feel it’s right, and in the meantime, you can look at these Halloween-esque memes!
