Since when do you need a reservation to enjoy a Big MAC?
Attention, all New Yorkers! A new fine-dining experience is coming your way, and you won’t want to miss it. As the title suggests, McDonald’s is changing courses and dipping its toes into elegance and fanciness. For the first time in history, it’s creating a fine-dining experience in Brooklyn on October 29th. According to the official announcement, the experience is free to enter, but you do need a reservation. Otherwise, no fast food!
The experience isn’t just about eating out at a regular restaurant. McDonald’s decided to call back-ups, and chef Tristed Epps-Long, Top Chef winner and former employee of the famous franchise, will prepare your meals. The goal is to create a chef’s table experience, with your burger cooked and prepared right before you. Diners will now get to see the quality of the ingredients and understand the detailed process behind how their food is made. This one-time menu includes the Quarter Pounder, Big Mac, Egg McMuffin, Chicken Nuggets, and their famous fries.
The crazy part is that this is the total opposite of what fast food actually is. In its origins, fast food restaurants had one goal: to serve quick, easy, cheap meals. Basically, they earn money through quantity, not quality. Now the tables are turning, and McDonald’s has decided to bet on high-quality burgers and food. That sounds like a good idea, and innovating the style from time to time doesn’t hurt anyone!
As we can all imagine, the internet went crazy with this whole idea. Some people found it extremely clever and interesting. It’s crazy to see how some fast-food places want to step up their game by changing their style and offering customers a new experience that goes beyond paying and eating in a split second. Others, on the other hand, don’t see the point, especially ebcause it’s only a one-time thing. In the end, McDonald’s is going back to what it really is and doesn’t see the point in trying to look fancy or high-quality.
