It’s nearing the end of the three-day weekend, which reminds me of how many three-day weekends we’ve already had this summer. With Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and Independence Day, this summer has had a sweet supply of holidays concentrated into a few short months. Some people wonder what life would be like if every week was a three-day weekend. I had a couple of three-day weekend semesters in college where I didn’t have class on Monday, but those mainly meant that I was having fun Saturday and Sunday and doing all of my work Monday. A constant state of three-day weekends sounds much more appealing as an adult. I’m glad I’m not a 19th-century factory worker with no weekend whatsoever, but I’m optimistic that in the future, we can dream even bigger than three-day weekends every weekend.
