Nothing puts you in a better mood than the smell of freshly baked cookies on a cold day of fall.
For many of us, cookies are not just a dessert: they are a part of our childhood memories. Coming home from a long day of school, or after playing with our friends, our moms would give us a big glass of milk (chocolate milk, in my case) and present a freshly baked batch of cookies. Those cookies had the power to transform our entire day, to cure any ailment, and to wash all our worries away. We were children, and there were very few things that some motherly love and a spoonful of sugar couldn’t solve. How we wish we could go back to those days.
For some of us, like me, cookies were one of the first things we learned how to bake. They are a relatively easy recipe, perfect for kids, and they were a way to spend some quality time with our families while doing something different and original. Most kids were obsessed with chocolate chip cookies, like my brother was, and even though I also loved them, my mom had a few other cookie recipes up her sleeve that were just as good.
Cookies are delicious, and they are the perfect afternoon snack for autumn, but there’s definitely a deeper meaning to them. Cookies were part of our childhood’s best and worst moments; they gave comfort and made us feel at home. They were a way for our families to show us love, and probably they will also be one of the first foods we give our own children one day. We would love to have baking afternoons with them as we had with our parents. Even if we don’t have or plan to have any kids of our own, we can always play the part of dutiful aunts and uncles, and spend some time with our nieces and nephews while their parents take some time to relax on their own.
The point is, we love cookies for many reasons, and that’s why we bring you this fresh batch of cookie memes while you sit on the couch and eat some, you guessed it, cookies!
