The question of ‘what’s for dinner?’ plagues households across the land, and probably a decent amount of the people reading this have plans this week that involve going to a restaurant or some other kind of dining establishment. We use food to spend time with one another, explore different cultures, and even improve our own skills. It means a lot, even to those who are not self-described foodies.

This is part of the reason that knowing how to cook is such a valuable skill. It allows you to feed yourself and your family, hopefully in a way that you usually enjoy. In this disconnected world we live in, actually getting our hands dirty with food prep is a good reminder that there is more to life than doomscrolling and that we are capable of doing something practical that offers us a real reward. Sure, not every meal is going to be a showstopper and some of them may even turn out borderline inedible, but it is all valuable experience.

The plus side of the wide range of culinary abilities is that there is even more material for memes to use. Internet humor loves to talk about food, whether it is what we’re making or the product of somebody else.
