Plushy carpet, a cool conversation pit, and a disco ball are all you need to have the night of you life. In the 70s and 80s, coolness was a major motivator for pretty much every social gathering, but in order to be the coolest guy in school, it didn’t take much to impress your adoring fans. Although the leisure suit, clogs, and feathered hair was optional, the best part about the groovy decades was that anybody could be awesome–they just had to prove it a little. 

These days, kids are fumbling with their TikToks and their cell phones and they’re forgetting what it means to live in the moment, unbridled by a lack of rules, parental advisory, and helicopter parents. Back in the 70s and 80s, you could ride your bike all day without a soul knowing where you were and as long as you were home by the time the street lights turned on, you’d be sitting pretty. So cheers to the freedoms of a bygone era, keep scrolling for a dose of heavy nostalgia that you might only feel from flipping through the cracked pages of an old scrapbook you found in your parent’s attic.
