Inheritance brings out the worst in people. It’s rare for someone to acquire hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets solely by being related to or having a relationship with a person. It takes so little merit to inherit something; it’s usually a strict matter of luck. Your grandma is either a millionaire or she has been putting her social security check into the slot machine for 30 years. You’re not a better person or more deserving of money if your grandma is the former, but you’re a lot more likely to get an inheritance if she’s a saver. Life isn’t fair, and inheritance (or lack thereof) is a perfect example of things not always going the way you want them to. Heck, look at Knives Out! People are willing to do a lot to get their hands on money they didn’t earn from people they didn’t care about anyway.
