I feel like everybody knows somebody who knows somebody who claims to have been abducted by aliens. I’m not sure about you all, but I’m not buying it. The delusion of alleged abductions is the lifeblood of the myth of little green men in flying saucers, and it’s not going away anytime soon. I’m not so skeptical that I don’t think there is actual life on other planets, but I don’t think that the aliens with green skin and bulbous black eyes are what extraterrestrials actually look like. Maybe they’re way hotter than human! Maybe they’re anatomically similar to The Blob! Who’s to say?

Perhaps this is human hubris talking, but I’m unconvinced that aliens are significantly more advanced than us. We take for granted how much humans have accomplished in the galactically short time we’ve been alive. We might destroy just as much as we create, but can’t that be said for all species?
