There are few life admin duties more boring than keeping up on our cyber security. It takes a special kind of person to wake up in the morning and decide to reorganize their password manager. At the same time, though, it’s an essential part of modern life. Getting hacked is no joke, even though there are a few too many of us out there who wilfully ignore Chrome’s strong password suggestions in favor of the same old favorites.
A relaxed attitude doesn’t just let in those we might want to keep out, it can also prevent you from getting in. This is something that @TheBlackLayers had the misfortune of finding out not too long ago, when she was locked out of an account online and her past self had provided a very unhelpful hint as to what the password was. As it turned out, she wasn’t alone in her pain; plenty of other Twitter users also revealed that they had fallen foul of their overconfidence in being able to remember things. The entire ordeal is enough to make you want to bring back password1234 for everything. That, or at least make a note of these things somewhere.
