Family is more than just genetics. Take it from someone whose family is far from perfect—I have long-time friends who I consider more like family members than my actual DNA-linked relatives. 

However, this half-sister didn’t see it that way. 

After spending nearly a lifetime as 26-year-old u/audreyy_rachel’s older sister, sharing a father and all the mixed family drama that comes with it, she recently undermined their bond on the basis of DNA. Frankly, despite her sisterly friendship, this half-sister wasn’t considered actual family according to who she thought was her true sibling.
