Is it truly asynchronous if you have to answer messages all day?
One of the beauties of work in this day and age is that we’ve figured out how to be more flexible. With video conferencing, messaging, and email, we’ve realized that we don’t all have to be in the same place at the same time in order to keep the wheels greased. It’s a beautiful thing. It means that employees have more of a grip on their work-life balance than ever before. As long as you’re contributing what you need to contribute, you’re in the clear. Or are you? It’s not always that simple when you’re working a remote job. Sometimes bosses still expect you to keep the exact same workflow as them. The sense of flexibility dissolves, and everything that you thought was promised does not come to pass. That’s the situation this employee was facing.
