Baby From ‘Nevermind’ Cover Gets Roasted After Suing Nirvana for Sexual Exploitation

In a strangely prophetic turn of events, the dollar-chasing baby who appeared on the iconic cover of Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind is all grown up, but he’s still chasing that dollar.

Spencer Elden, now 30 years old, has sued Nirvana and the estate of Kurt Cobain for sexual exploitation and pornography. Elden has claimed that he could not consent to the use of his image and ‘has suffered and will continue to suffer lifelong damages’ as a result of alleged exploitation. He could receive up to $150,000 from each of the defendants involved in the lawsuit.

Twitter has pointed out that over the years, Elden has recreated the famous image several times and even got the word ‘Nevermind’ tattooed on his chest—bizarre behavior from someone who has supposedly suffered trauma from the existence of said image. He spent much of his teen years celebrating his legacy as the ‘Nirvana baby,’ but in a 2016 interview with GQ, Elden expressed having a change of heart after Nirvana brushed off his invitation to participate in an art show.

The internet has not taken kindly to the news of Elden’s lawsuit. Child exploitation is no joke, and Twitter is dragging Elden for supposedly using a serious issue to collect his bag. Whether Elden is that cynical or is truly a victim of exploitation will be determined by the court, but for now, here’s what the internet has to say about it.
