Boomer Style Gen X Meme Inspires Brutal Thread About Generational Cringiness

One subtle reminder I receive about not getting any younger is the social media presence of the people I knew in high school. It’s hard to put a finger on it exactly, but it’s like some of them just stopped acknowledging several years ago that the internet and its trends kept on evolving.

This isn’t a criticism. There comes a point when you shouldn’t have to care about the next big thing, so long as you don’t rely on it for a living. That being said, it does make me wonder how long it’s going to take for people my age to go full cringe.

For quite a while now, it has been baby boomers who have coveted the dubious crown of the most cringey, out of touch old people posts. They might not for much longer, though, as Gen X seem to be getting in on the act.

This was a recent topic of discussion on Twitter, after some relative youngsters were horrified to stumble upon an awful image glorifying the forgotten generation over the «wussies» of today. The meme was undoubtedly cringeworthy, but it also serves as a reminder that we’re all only a certain number of years away from being terminally uncool (if we aren’t already). In the words of Grandpa Simpson, it’ll happen to you.
