Sometimes a goof-up lets you know what your employers really think of you. 

There is so much fake kindness in the professional world. You have to run around smiling at each other just to keep things on an even keel. At certain jobs, professionalism just means fakeness. You don’t get to say your real opinions or express your real emotions. You have to filter them through a lens of politeness or else nobody would listen to you or respect you. This is a good thing sometimes, and protects you from people who are out to get you. You don’t want to end up in a situation where someone is overstepping their boundaries just because they can. Sometimes corporate politeness is the only answer. But sometimes there is a moment when the facade cracks and you see what actually lies beneath it. This story was one of those times. 

It’s somewhat easy to copy the wrong person on an email, but it can have disastrous consequences. You don’t want to accidentally reveal something to one of your coworkers or employees. Sometimes difficult discussions need to be had over email, and this was one of them. But the folks in charge could never have known what was coming when they were talking about an employee behind their back. They thought they were being respectful, but a different vision came clear when the employee found out that they had accidentally copied the employee in question on the same email.
