Happy belated Labor Day, Trekkies! I hope you had a fabulous day off binging Star Trek instead of working at your non-Starship Enterprise workplace. Star Trek has a couple of episodes that depict labor unions, mostly in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In the episode Bar Association, labor unions were banned and seriously punishable in …

Halloween is closer than you think it is. I don’t want to be controversial, but I think dressing up as a Star Trek character is one of the easiest things you can do for Halloween. I guess it could either be the most basic costume or the most difficult and involved one, depending on which …

I cannot, for the life of me, do the Vulcan salute with my right hand. I can do the iconic hand gesture effortlessly with my left hand, which doesn’t make any sense, seeing that I’m right-handed. Maybe I wouldn’t be in this predicament if I’d spent more of my precious time on earth practicing putting my ring/pinky …

Star Trek, especially The Original Series, and The Next Generation, had some major hits and misses regarding costumes. While the primary colored uniforms from the Original Series have stood the test of time, the ones that Patrick Stewart and his friends wore during the first season of The Next Generation left little to the imagination. …

The Best Star Trek Memes of the Week (August 6, 2024)
Star Trek memes are some of the oldest memes in the book. I don’t know about y’all, but Annoyed Picard was one of the first memes that came into my line of sight in 2012. It was such a perfect vehicle for expressing all of the grievances you might’ve had in 2012, like complaining that …

My dad is the biggest Star Trek fan I know, and I love that for him. When I was growing up, he was always on the couch watching Star Trek reruns every Saturday morning because he just loved it so darn much! It was like he was a kid again, and it was the 60s, …

I hope all of you Star Trek fans reading this are highly jealous to hear that I took a Klingon class in college. I’m sure you’ve all heard about those wacky colleges in the middle of nowhere offering pointless but intriguing courses, and you can bet your hat that I signed up for the one …

When iconic characters must be recast for a new generation, they don’t often look identical to their original actors. If every James Bond had the exact same face, that would be a little weird. I, for one, am glad that Timothee Chalamet, Johnny Depp, and Gene Wilder are not perfectly identical. I am, however, so …

It’s always so funny to me when people complain about Star Trek being «too woke.» They see LGBT representation or racially diverse casts and act like this is a whole new stomping ground for Star Trek, which is the silliest thing in the world. Star Trek literally made history as the first TV show to …

Everybody likes Star Trek for a different reason. Some of you might gravitate towards all the «monster of the week» characters, or you enjoy the diverse casting that was revolutionary for the 60s. I enjoy the aesthetic of the original series. Something about 1960s production design makes specific genres pop in ways they don’t in …
