Happy belated Labor Day, Trekkies! I hope you had a fabulous day off binging Star Trek instead of working at your non-Starship Enterprise workplace. Star Trek has a couple of episodes that depict labor unions, mostly in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In the episode Bar Association, labor unions were banned and seriously punishable in the Ferengi society. When Rom formed a union in that episode, it was a short but sweet endeavor.

«Rom formed a union in late 2372, after Quark became even more ruthless to his staff. Brunt and the Ferengi Commerce Authority became aware of it and took steps to destroy it. To avoid further trouble with the FCA, Quark gave all of his staff an increase in wages in exchange for Rom dissolving the union.»
