Company Roasted For Glassdoor Rating After Boasting About Giving Employees Free Beer

The Googleplex has a lot to answer for when it comes to trendy corporate culture. After they started boasting about their volleyball courts and cafeterias with diverse cuisines, there’s one thing you can count on being in any job listing for a similar working environment: «fun» perks that HR are probably using to obscure the depressing reality of the actual role.

Big Ass Fans has a very literal name. They sell fans, lights, and controls for commercial and residential use. Like every business that hopes to market itself as youthful and forward-thinking, they also have a TikTok account. Not too long ago, they posted to the platform revealing how when they hit their sales targets for the day, their employees get the benefit of opening the free beer fridge.

However, @barstoolsyria took issue with this cheerful show of company generosity, and decided to investigate how those who worked there felt about the company by seeing their Glassdoor reviews. At the time of making the response video, the company had a 3.1 rating, which he pointed out was «worse than Walgreens». Many of the more negative reviews cite this as being down to unrealistic sales goals and toxic management, as well as claiming that many of the quirky benefits that lure in employees frequently get slashed.

Most commenters were also skeptical of the lure of a celebratory office beer, especially when a lot of people would rather drink at home. Creating an adult version of the end of year school pizza party isn’t the win that employers would like it to be.
