Criminally Cringey Stories That Definitely Didn’t Happen

For all the reasons that we love the internet (passing the time, learning about niche subjects, things we can’t mention here if we want monetization), there are just as many reasons we hate it. First of all, it’s addictive – even for people that use it all day for work. But most of all, the Internet is frustrating. There’s so much to be gained by the wealth of knowledge on the world wide web, as well as the incredible platforms that give voices to marginalized voices, or connect loved ones who live far away from one another. Sadly, many people use those platforms, and their voices, to get attention. We’re not talking about people who post thirst traps. We’re all used to that type of narcissistic Internet behavior. No, we’re talking about the kind of people who weave complicated lies about themselves that definitely did not actually happen. Long stories in which they triumph over some imaginary enemy, or «show» the man they’re right, even when they’re completely wrong.

While robust, flourish-y lies are a dime a dozen these days, some of them are way bolder and, dare we say, more creative, than others. These are just a few of the wildest fibs we’ve come across, but lord knows there’s more where these came from.
