Dairy Queen Convinces No-one By Offering A $2400 Sign Up Bonus

It’s a pretty weird time out there for the job market. On the one hand, finding stable work when you’re unemployed seems like an uphill struggle. On the other, several industries seem to be crying out for workers.

Many employers in retail and hospitality have taken desperate measures to try and combat the chronic staffing issues that have cropped up over the past year. In fact, it’s so prevalent that the internet is beginning to cast its critical eye over how they are going about it. This was evident in a viral TikTok posted by @randa_lauryn, which puts the spotlight on a hiring ad from Dairy Queen. In the video, she points out one of its stores advertising a sign up bonus of $2400.

However, many viewers were far from convinced by the offering, with some going as far as suggesting that it may be a scam. If some commenters were to be believed, the truth lies somewhere in the middle — with the bonus only being applied when the employee had worked for a certain amount of time. Minimum wage was never going to let you off that easily, after all.
